Fashion is a tantrum that taunts traffic. I’ve often wondered how you orchestrate a Tati film on paper, what that looks like as screenplay, but even in Altman’s playground of character of place and time, you wonder what exactly should you pay attention to. Why these details? Why not the other girl? And if that is the question, why not that line? That thought? What life, over yonder, is lived over there? What do you have to say for yourself? —Mugler. —Jean Paul Gautlier. “𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.” *Liked this a lot more than Nashville (https://letterboxd.com/bulgogiboi/film/nashville/) only because this is just my culture. Also, the very opening shot of this film in how it pans, zooms out, and spirals along with a Legrand piece is just music to my ears, the way I experience the world. Turbulent and whimsical. Though the jokes don't land and the whole dramatics runs a bit dry throughout, it's all theatrical and has a guerilla cinéma vérité to it given that it was shot during PFW '94. It's the combining of cultures, fashion and film, that is the orchestrated chaos in which that I like and in which that I am. “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬. 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬.”
