I Dream in Another Language
March Around the World '23 (2/30): Mexico 🇲🇽. How profound what this film evokes on a cinematographic level, but beyond the cultural mosaic that it represents in its story, it is quite emotionally devastating. Enmity, love, fear, language barriers, experiences, and the engine that drives our sense of existence are aspects that we cannot always understand, at least initially. The phrase "not understanding but living it" is often used a lot and as an excuse, but when it hits you hard, then you know what or who moves you forward. I am real passionate about love as a concept, reality and leitmotif, and Contreras knew how to represent it in such a simple way without losing its complexity or impact, represented from the beginning of time to whatever we call "love" nowadays.

Ernesto Contreras demuestra con esta cinta que el verdadero cine mexicano existe con esta obra premiada por sundance y con el Ariel de oro a mejor película. Sueño en otro idioma tiene casi de todo: amor, drama, traición, odio, misterio, suspenso, fantasia. La historia busca el hacer conciencia de los dialectos indígenas a partir del Zikril (el cual fue inventado para realizar esta cinta) junto con una historia de dos amigos que pelearon hace años que un lingüista intenta arreglar con tal de salvar el dialecto. Otra cosa que me encantó fue la fotografía, resalta mucho los escenarios tan hermosos, principalmente la selva, es imposible no enamorarte de estos paisajes que ofrece México.
