A Deadly Adoption
The mother of all Lifetime movies, A Deadly Adoption full out shoots down all Lifetime movies that have been made, but still makes it feel like it's a Lifetime movie. That's something of an accomplishment in my book. Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig decided to make this film in secret, just because they felt like it. Both of them were honestly great in this. They made no hints at all of it not being serious, and even showed off their talents in the dramatic roles. Wiig did an exceptional job at the latter. This film follows the simple recipe that makes up Lifetime movies. You have a plot (that could be based off a true story) that's easy to follow, get some actors that are somewhat well known, add murder, mix it up, and you've got yourself a Lifetime movie. A Deadly Adoption follows this exact recipe, but adds it's own spin to it. This spin makes the film itself one giant concoction of very, very subtle humor that makes this film a parody. A Deadly Adoption actually surprised me, since it's known that Lifetime movies aren't the type to be nominated for any big awards. Wiig and Ferrell did a fantastic job in making the ultimate Lifetime movie and I'm glad that they decided to go on a limb and make this film.
