American Honey
Jake: Prove to me your name is Star, and I'll give it to you. Star: It was my mom's idea. She said we're all made from stars. From Death Stars.

when the song american honey started playing i ascended.
American Honey
American Honey more like American Dream. The rawness, freedom, happy they feels in this movie feel so real, kinda dreaming to have a life like that when i'm really hopeless to live and then found love in the hopeless place. What a life. If A24 have a family tree, Spring Breakers would be mom, American Honey an older sister, and The Florida Project would be a younger sister.
American Honey
American Honey captures the essence of what America is. The locations, the people, the music, the attitudes, everything just seems to perfectly capture what it is like in America. You could call this one of the most "American" films of all time, truly capturing what America is like for many people onto film. It's breathtaking, it's stunning, and it's far from forgettable, American Honey stands as one of the greatest films of all time. This film just shows why I love cinema, and how it truly can change your life.

And Sasha Lane isn’t the biggest star in the world because why?
American Honey
A monumental exercise in subtle narrative, American Honey is Andrea Arnold's youthful depiction of rousing and realistic coming-of-age cinema; a cross-country tale of identification, dreams, and Americana among the wandering lives of youths. This is an incredibly intimate and consuming experience; a near three-hour road trip that shares such realism with its unique elements. Two lovebirds run freely along the lawns of suburbia and the next tumble in the green grass of home (for now). A beautiful picture in both scenes, each camera shot is exclusively handheld to perfection. The overall cinematography is defectless and fitting for an independent coming-of-age like this. The result assists Sasha Lane's terrific debut in cinema. The land of opportunity sure raised this American honey. 4.5/5
American Honey
A film drenched in mood, atmosphere and desire — desire for a person, for a better situation, to be free, to feel free, to make a name for oneself and whatnot. The dynamic and interaction between characters in the van feel so effortlessly natural. One of my favorite scenes is when Star and Jake sit on top of the van—that was incredibly immersive and real and breathtaking...my heart was about to combust. How does Andrea Arnold do it ?!! The ending fire scene made me fall in love with this even more. I don't get what the turtle means; but the final moment looked like she was reborn / baptised. There's something to be said about the fascination with water bodies, main character not knowing how to swim and a sea creature finding its way to the ocean or parting with it forever. But whatever the symbolism may be, I don't want to think, I just want to feel. I could've hung out with these characters much longer. All I know is that I love American Honey and just want to watch films with similar vibes, to have some semblance of returning to it but for it to be new, so as to ignite the feelings of first American Honey watch again — just me and the film, and everything else melting away, all the troubles, the stressors, worries, unwanted thoughts, my whole life. Easily getting lost into a world, to the point where you and the film almost become one. Yearning to experience it again. I know what I'm saying doesn't have much substance. And this rambling might sound kinda weird considering some of the subject matter: youths trying to make ends meet, but...idk...the intensity of my ever-present love for this is too much. Everyone in this is incredible, but I'm most impressed with Shia Labeouf. The guy can act! The shame, remorse and embarrassment in his look as Star entered the van was palpable, whew. This performance and Andrea's masterful direction made me really like him. Also, it's the year of Shia and Robert, huh. Both starred in not-so-good '00s franchises, and have recently reinvented their careers, coming with full force this award season. I like to see it. Andrea Arnold is so damn cool!! Please never stop making films. And be my mentor or friend or acquaintance or anything. Just let me talk to you once, because wow this was magical!
