Christine

I want to pay attention to this film because of the real story behind it. However, many times I had tried and continue to fail. I am waving my white flag, I surrender.

Christine

After watching this, I was immediately feel shocked and dizzy, even though it was just a biography drama, I felt psychological disturbed after watching this. This movie is based on a true story about Christine, a reporter who committed suicide live while reporting the news. This movie shows Christine's struggle to get promoted and her opinion can be heard, I also felt very stressed when watching this. Rest In Peace Christine 🙏

Christine

Film has an opportunity to expose audiences to many different aspects of the world. Whether it be the mystical fantasy worlds to the harsh realities of life, film manages to reveal very real things that occur in our world. One very harsh reality of life that many films do not depict is depression. Depression is a very serious condition that millions of people deal with, yet it's not shown on film often. Christine changes that by showing a normal woman dealing with depression, as well as the extreme consequences of not getting help with it. I don't think I have ever been this shaken while watching a film. Months before viewing this film, I had done research into Christine Chubbuck's life, curious as to what exactly happened that day. Going into the film, I knew exactly what was going to happen. Yet, when the scene finally occurred, I was still in shock. I sat there during the film's final 10 minutes shaking, my stomach churning, and my heart racing. It took hours for this shaking to finally stop, but left me feeling very strange. Films have the ability to affect the viewer in many different ways, but I have never had an experience like I had after finishing Christine. Rebecca Hall's performance is truly haunting. As many others have stated, this film does seem a little lost at times, but Hall's performance brings it all together. "Why is she not getting nominated more for her performance?" is the question that I kept thinking throughout the film. Her performance really is an extremely powerful one, especially in the film's final scenes. She felt natural in the role, truly feeling like she was Chubbuck herself. It was amazing seeing a performance as good as Hall's was, yet see that it's not getting much attention at the moment. Hopefully she does start getting some more nominations, as she very much deserves to get attention for Christine. It's easy to see why Christine is one of 2016's most controversial films. Digging up Chubbuck's tragic story and putting it on the big screen is something that is very sensitive, but I do feel that it is a story that is important to tell. Chubbuck's battle with depression is something that many people can relate to, learning from what she battled and getting the proper help. There's a line that still resonates with me that relates to Chubbuck's story: "They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time." Chubbuck's story is one that still needs to be told, a story that shouldn't be forgotten with time. As one of 2016's most controversial films, Christine is a gut-wrenching film that needed to be made. It's deeply saddening to see someone as noble and hard-working as Chubbuck take her life, and it goes to show how leaving depression untreated can result in the loss of a life. Her story is a story that many people have forgotten about, but now this film does cement Chubbuck's story, a story that is never to be forgotten.

Christine

Something is off about the movie. It’s well made, and the performances are great, unsurprisingly Rebecca Hall is incredible, and Tracy Letts, Michael C. Hall and Maria Dizzia also do well. There just…I dunno. Something felt off.
