Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

fun watch, started a smidge slow but act 3 was entertaining. liked the ending especially, thought it was about to be a sappy retirement but liked how it subverted expectations and left things appropriately open ended.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Unbelievably disappointing and one of the worst films I’ve seen all year. It has a few funny moments here and there but mostly feels like it was written by AI. The story is horrendous and the script was laughably bad. When Phoebe Waller-Bridge talks about how she learnt this code when she was 8 it felt more like a parody than an actual film. No hate towards her though or any of the other actors, it’s not their fault. The director and writers probably need a career change though. Two stars is incredibly generous and I may change this to an even lower rating.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Oh man...I'm so glad I got to see Crystal Skull and Dial Of Destiny in the cinema. This movie was FANTASTIC. The de-aging was really good! Unfortunately for the 1st minute the movie kept glitching out on screen :/ All of the action scenes were fun. Harrison still had the charm of Indiana. Phoebe was incredible, Sold every scene she's in. Mads was an amazing villain (no shit). My dad, grandma & I were very emotional watching it. Great ending to a great movie series.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has the feel of a classic Indiana Jones film, but fails to find the heart that the rest of the films have. It follows the same formula that we see from all of the other films, but it feels a bit distant. Mangold’s direction is fine, but honestly doesn’t add anything new or special to the film. Mikkelsen is a formidable villain, who ends up being the best part of the film. The de-aging at the beginning of the film didn’t bother me much, it just would have been nice to have Ford’s voice be a little less rugged, since it sounded like a modern, agin Ford in a young body and threw me off. I didn’t hate this film by any means, I actually had a pretty good time with it, I just wish that it had more of a soul, since you could really tell the difference between this production and Spielberg’s productions.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

62/100 Check out my 2023 ranked - https://boxd.it/qk54W Man it was felt so fucking long, I couldn’t keep watching it without using my phone in the last hour. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mind to watch a film but I’m not gonna try to watch this again regardless. This is the worst written James Mangold film I’ve seen but as beautiful looking as his other films. I felt emotional at the end when Karen Allen and Harrison Ford kissed, felt like a perfect ending to an eventful and long saga. I don’t know what keeps Harrison Ford motivated to work in all major franchises, like he still performs as good as ever and doesn’t much care about displaying his acting abilities anymore but surely it cannot be the money anymore, man is worth like 300 to 400 million, what more can he want? Maybe it’s just passion I don’t know. I love the man regardless.  This film was a crazy concept, albeit repetitive in terms of taking elements of previous adventure stories like Uncharted and Indiana Jones itself but it had a great beginning. The deaging was poor and the budget was more than 300 million so technology really hasn’t come as far as we thought it would by now. I really only trust James Cameron to overcome this deaging debacle. Pheobe Walter grew on me throughout the film, hated her at the beginning, she was her usual self in most of her roles, quirky and annoying but she did have some redemption about her. But eventually, she took the lead in the film and that bothered me which is when I tuned off into distraction. The kid was useless. The autos however were fucking supercars with insane durability lmao. I think the idea behind casting Mads Mikkelsen was for him to replicate his role in Casino Royale because he acted exactly the same way but they kept it PG and he just wasn’t as calculated in this, felt like he had no mind of his own. Indiana Jones films have literally gone worse with each one imo. Shame because the first one was such a treat man. I’m glad the saga is over and shame it had to end in a flop because the film really does look gorgeous and they’ve put effort into it, it’s just uninteresting and drags quite a bit while also playing on nostalgia which dare I say worked in this case, at least partially.
