Diary entries for10 Cloverfield Lane
10 Cloverfield Lane

Goodman and MEW are incredible in easily the best Cloverfield entry. Cut out the last 5 minutes and it might be one of the best films I've seen all decade

Don't know why it took me so long to watch it since i watched the first movie 2 years ago and loved it but i finally got around to it. I still prefer the first Cloverfield but i enjoyed watching this and loved Michelle
10 Cloverfield Lane
My introduction into the found footage genre was graciously given to me by Cloverfield. I was terrified of it, as it felt extremely real and new. Plus, it was the controversial movie of the time, so I had to watch it. Now, many years later, Cloverfield finally has a companion. Well, at least somewhat of a companion. 10 Cloverfield Lane feels like it's in the same universe as Cloverfield, but isn't necessarily a sequel or prequel to the film. Instead, it's a Twilight Zone-esque film, completely bringing new things to the table. The first thing that surprised me is that this is not a found footage film. Instead, it's filmed like any other film, which was interesting to see. John Goodman was my next big surprise, as he did absolutely fantastic in this. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but he honestly gave one hell of a performance, as well as Winstead. The last thing to really surprise me was how well done this film was. As with the acting, I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. But oh how I was wrong. It felt fresh, was filmed beautifully, and went perfectly with the setup of the film. I don't think this film would have worked if it had not been set up the way it had, slowly revealing things to us. Instead, it takes its time and sets up something that it may or may not be. 10 Cloverfield Lane is a surprise film (literally and figuratively), since it brought things that I was not expecting. At all. I'm really excited to see how the rest of this anthology works out (if I can call this an anthology) and see more work from the director, Dan Trachtenberg. 10 Cloverfield Lane is one interesting film.

10 Cloverfield Lane
This is definitely not the sequel i was expecting. Coming off the first this was an amazing sequel. It felt very different compared to the first but also just as good. I really like the plot they went for. They took the sci-fi horror from the first and added a psychological thriller on top. The plot was very intriguing and entertaining throughout. I enjoyed how we as the audience is discovering everything out alongside the characters. The main cast was great. Mary Elizabeth Winstead has the strangest horror filmography I've seen. John Goodman plays a great antagonist in this. This made me keep questioning whether he was good or bad. That whole plot twist with him was a bit out of nowhere though. Like what did he do exactly. The alien sci-fi stuff I still don't understand at all. But it looked great in this as well. Hopefully the next film explains more. The horror in this was great. There was insane tension I could literally feel between the characters. At first while watching I kinda didn't like the whole psychological thriller thing. But it actually fits incredibly well. It's very interesting to see a different pov or I guess universe? Well I know that these are multiversal so but idk. The only thing I could say was bad is that towards the end it gets so dark I could barely see. Besides that overall , this was a pretty great and tense sequel. Thankfully Paradox apparently explains more lore so. I still kinda want more aliens.
