Amy is the heartbreaking documentary focusing on the successes and downfall of the artist Amy Winehouse. Going in, I just knew it was going to go through her life, presenting never-before-seen footage of her, which is all you need to know. Listening to her music and knowing the circumstances of her life, I was extremely intrigued to see this, as Amy Winehouse is one of my favorite artists. This documentary is perfect. It goes through her life, focusing on things that would lead to her untimely demise, while still focusing on the spectacular music career that she had. The formatting was amazing, since there were just voices during interviews, not video of them, but rather videos of Amy singing or doing other things. This really focuses on Amy herself, instead of the people telling the stories, adding more depth to who she was. Amy is heartbreaking. I find myself at a loss for words after watching this, since I already knew the end, but it still hit me like a ton of bricks. I would be really surprised if people were not touched after finishing this, since it's very careful while talking about her death. Amy is an amazing documentary, looking into the life of Amy Winehouse. It is a heartbreaking film, but one that is uplifting while looking at her spectacular music career.
