It's taken me a while to watch this film, almost too long. Mystic River is all about tragedy, after tragedy, after tragedy. And after the last scene has faded to black, the story of the film haunts you. The three main leads, and well as the script really make this film. But particularly the actors. Tim Robbins and Sean Penn especially. Mystic River was just full of powerful imagery and dialog. For instance, when Dave is trying to explain himself to Jimmy and he say "We did it, me and the boy." That line hit hard. Because it wasn't about Dave and another kids beating someone. It was about Dave, and his child self who was robbed on his innocence receiving catharsis by beating up a child molester. In a way this was the only way Dave could ever recieve justice. And we see that Dave hasn't really been himself for a while. He's confused and the unresolved trauma from his past has begun to eat away at his mind. His pain is translated to the audience in such a visceral way. Like Jimmy said towards the end of the film: "When's the last time I saw Dave? That was twenty-five years ago, going up the street, in the back of that car." Powerful. Jimmy's character was interesting as well. He's a character who suffers from tragic irony, no? The son of the man he killed, the family that he told his daughter to stay away from is responsible for his daughter's death. I wonder, if maybe he hadn't killed "Just Ray", would Katie have still been alive? Mystic River is a example a compelling story telling done right. While I do admit it starts of slow, once it starts going, you're buckled up and in for a thrilling ride.

I’m so pissed off, Dave deserved so much better… This movie frustrated me as much as Prisoners and The Green Mile did. It’s the type of movie you only watch once in your life and never again. Fuck this movie for real.

“Sometimes I think all three of us got in that car.” - Sean Penn wow range of emotions super performance. - Bacon and Morpheus great cop duo. - The parallels with hoping in the car and saying the name, wow. - Oh man.

"is that my daughter in there?!" one of the most gut wrenching scenes i have ever watched. sean penn’s performance was brilliant but every actor is unbelievable in this movie. dave deserved so much better :( everyone failed him especially his own wife. i guessed who the killer was pretty early on but her death didn’t make any sense. the mute kid killing her because he loved his brother so much he didn’t want him to run away with her would’ve been a much better reason. the ending almost ruined it for me too especially that weird scene between jimmy and his wife where she justifies everything he did. there were also some subplots that were so unnecessary like kevin bacon and his wife. i was just expecting more

فيلم غموض و جريمة جيد لا أكثر من كذا أو أقل برأيي تصاعد الأحداث كان بطيء نوعاً ما و رتم الفيلم كان بطيء الجزئية الأخيره هي الي عجبتني لكن حتى النهاية ماكان لها تفسير أو مبرر انا بنيت نظرية و هي الأقرب للصحه لكن الفيلم ما وضح لنا تفسير القضيه وأيش كانت الدوافع لكن غير كذا الفيلم كان جيد لكن كان ممكن يكون أحسن من كذا بكثير ..
