California Split

wanted to watch this since it was leaving criterion at the end of the month and one of my friends put it in their list of recommendations for me. this is film that seems somewhat aimless, with the protagonists going from one gambling opportunity to another, looking for their next big win. but i don’t think it being aimless is a bad thing necessarily, i mean it fits the attitudes of these characters very well IMO. i don’t know if it’s because i watched this one fairly recently but it reminded me somewhat of mikey and nicky: a very grounded and realistic film detailing the dynamic between two men that have this strange dynamic that affects them in interesting ways.
