Diary entries forBy the Sea
By the Sea
Odd. That's the first word that comes to my mind when thinking of this film. Odd. From the beginning, there seemed to be nothing happening. You just watched Jolie Pitt and Pitt interact and seem to grow farther apart. Then halfway, things start changing, creating a different movie entirely. It's interesting, but I'm not exactly sure what to think about this. Jolie Pitt did a fantastic job acting. As she has stated she wants this to be her last acting film, she gave a great performance. Pitt gave another great performance as well. Their chemistry (their odd, odd chemistry) felt strangely real, quite possibly since they are married themselves. Jolie Pitt behind the camera was interesting. I really enjoyed her last film, Unbroken, and I was excited to see a film that was more artistic. The film was beautiful. I was actually really surprised at how well this film was filmed. I was expecting something a little more intimate, with more shaky camera work, instead of the smooth pans and beautiful cinematography. By the Sea is one of the oddest films of the year, being that I can't quite put my finger on the film. It was a fantastic film with fantastic direction and great acting, but it was just different. I'm really interested to see what else Jolie PItt is able to produce, since she quite possibly could become a fantastic director.
