Spotlight

Very much Zodiac without the killing, which is a good thing as Zodiac is a fantastic film. Great acting, fantastic cast, gripping story and shines light on a major issue. Pretty crazy to think how many predators got away with their crimes, it’s a sad world.

Spotlight

Spotlight, es una película muy controversial y demasiado poderosa al mostrar hasta donde puede llegar la iglesia para poder tapar todo su lado más oscuro. El reparto es fantástico y es una película que deja mucho que pensar

Spotlight

Spotlight is a terrific exposé, showing the power of journalism, as well as the corruption of the Church. Spotlight covers a heavy subject. The subject of Priests molesting children is heavy, but what they find in the film is astonishing. It is insane to think that this is a true story, since they uncovered so much information. The film does a fantastic job showing this, giving the small intricate details that led the team to their findings. While there wasn't any outstanding performances, all of the performances were amazing. As for directing, McCarthy did a fantastic job, not overdoing anything, keeping things small and subtle. Altogether, Spotlight is a fantastic film. The subject is interesting and the film seems to fly by. I had known absolutely nothing about this case before, and the film properly informed me of the information that was received in the investigations.

95/100 Check out my favourite thrillers - https://boxd.it/p7sYS I got into films in around 2016-17. I remember this being one of the first films I saw which wasn’t just some casual hero villain story, something that was mature and deep, something that required attention. This whole story got me then and once again it got me now. To think of how priests can do this to kids and relinquish them of their faith to God is really shocking and unbearable. When the end credits roll, I bet everyone is just dumbfounded and blank.  The cast is incredible - Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci in particular are exceptional. I hope Mark goes back into these serious roles, he’s a fantastic actor. Seeing this back in 2016 was really an awakening, maybe I should see more films and maybe films aren’t just about drama but possibly about stories that need to be told but aren’t box office, stories that are important. Perhaps I can say this film got me to appreciate storytelling and writing in the first place. Seeing this again is just as heartbreaking as it was back then and honestly just as infuriating as then. Investigative journalism is one of the best jobs a person can do and when you turn a good script into a film, I’ll always give it a 10. There’s almost nothing more compelling than exposé thrillers.

I don't even know how to react. Those credits. My heart sank, genuinely.

Love these types of movies, very thrilling.  I wouldn’t mind if Ruffalo just did these for the rest of his life, he’s always so good.  8/10
