All the Colours of the Dark

I watched this not even half a year ago and completely forgot about it/logging it lol anyway I just got the Severin DVD of it and love it. Every scene has something beautiful. I've got a bunch of Martino's films I want to check out sometime after this/later in the year, even though I still expect this to be among my favs. A tale of a woman having nightmares about a man with distinctly-colored eyes killing her leads her, and us, to surreal scenes and places

All the Colours of the Dark

A carry-over from last year's Hooptober, this time we shoved it to the front of the pack. It really is quite a looker, our POV shifting every which way. Comically hyped up on its hysteria, stalking, etc. but I very nearly muted the TV once the sex cult shenanigans started in with just an incredibly grating psychedelic cacophony.

All the Colours of the Dark

I haven’t seen many giallo films, but I can tell this is definitely one of the more unique entries in that sub-genre. Some interesting cinematography (using I believe anamorphic short lenses) and editing style, a great 70’s score, and vibrant colors that make everything feel like a fever dream. It does get a bit confusing, blurring the lines between what’s real and what is a dream/hallucination, but I suppose that’s the point? Either way, I enjoyed my watch and I want to revisit this one someday. Intrusive thought: why did it look like homeboy had golden Bugles chips on his fingers

All the Colours of the Dark

Hooptober 12 (https://boxd.it/O4q2m) #22 of 33 • 1 film written by Ernesto Gastaldi (https://letterboxd.com/writer/ernesto-gastaldi/genre/horror/) I love how well the fish-eye lens conveys a sense of insanity and nightmarish anxiety, not just in this movie but in many others.

All the Colours of the Dark

𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴? Panic after panic, dizzying. A fun and stylish Italian horror-thriller that doesn't let up in set design or jump scares. Draws you out the way the shimmer of a knife does. Running away never looked so good. Zoom-ins forever. Wide eyes.
