Diary entries forSouthpaw
Southpaw
Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams holy shit
Southpaw
My little brother says that Southpaw is one of his favorite films. His other favorite films include The Bad News Bears, 42, and The Dark Knight, so I was really interested to see why Southpaw made it into his favorite films. Southpaw is an emotional rollercoaster, with Gyllenhaal doing some of his best work. There were so many emotions to feel while watching it, some polarizing emotions being in the same scenes. It's amazing how this film was able to show raw emotion. Gyllenhaal is really the reason this film succeeded. He gives an honestly brutal performance, with me considering it to be one of his finest yet. It seems like he's been getting some fantastic roles lately, with each of his newer films seeming to have a better role than the last. I see why my brother considers Southpaw as one of his favorite films, as it is a gripping and gut-wrenchingly emotional film. It's yet another sports movie that I've seen that I've enjoyed, so maybe I should start watching more sports related films. You never know, I may have found something I actually enjoy watching.
Southpaw
jake gyllenhaal bro, that's it
Southpaw
I can't tell which one was my sweat or my tears because the monstrous performance in this cliché boxing movie like Cinderella Man (2005) was absolutely bring 'hope' even tough some of shaky pov were making me a headache
Southpaw
what an emotional movie almost made a grown ass man cry again
Southpaw
"The more you get hit the harder you fight" "Every time I seen you fight, you climb in there alone. Every time you bled, you bled your blood. When you sat down on that stool and felt like death and you thought you couldn't get back up, but you got up? You did that" I literally could care less what the reviews say I enjoyed this film a lot, on a first watch I may even consider it to be a favorite which is very rare for me lol.
Southpaw
wise man at the end 😩
Southpaw
Not bad, but it definitely lays it on thick. Feels like it suffers from a lack of imagination during the boxing matches, coming in a bit too close, cutting too much. Perhaps it’s covering up for Gyllenhaal, but he seems to do well otherwise. Disappointing in that regard for sure.
Southpaw
Jake can save any movie, even one as predictable and tired as this one. Also the Eminem track was nice.
Southpaw
93/100 Warrior, Southpaw, and rocky balboa are my favourite fight films ever.
