Chances Are
If you put aside the second hand embarrassment from the middle portion of the film with the whole incest complexity with how Alex remembers that he was Louie, then it is actually a great watch! That portion does come to be memorable and beneficial to Corinne's moving on story. I am deeply empathetic with her unable to move on from Louie and it is such a natural and normal thing to happen when you become a widow. I like that the story sticks to her moving on rather than staying with Alex/Louie, all of them deserved a happy ending. It's not a perfect film all in all but it is a good one to say that moving on will always trump every single moment of your life and I love that message. Alex and Miranda do deserve each other and the parallels between all 4 of them where the ending matches almost exactly the first scene of the film seems like a full circle moment for all of them. Only 4 stars because of the very much second hand embarrassment I felt in the middle of the film but it does come when you're watching romantic-comedy films/shows.
