this movie woke me up so bad with how tense i was for like the last 30-40 minutes i was literally so scared for alicia. then there’s also the push and pull between their relationship thats so frustrating to watch in a way that you can see how much they want and yearn to be together but they are stopping themselves — especially devlin — because they have a job to finish and then the moment alicia was in danger he immediately went ‘i love you’ so fucking good bro *chefs kiss*. cary and ingrid have such incredible chemistry, its sooo buzzy. perfect film that would’ve been made more perfect if they showed us how they killed alex, awful disgusting man that deserves worse than what he’s got.

An espionage film which quickly spirals out of control when Devlin and Alicia fall in love. This is one of Hitchcocks best films, with thrilling suspense, especially during the cellar scene. Grant and Bergman are both great as always, making this a treat.

My main motivation for watching this today was just so, for a few hours at least, I could have my recent movie section say 'notorious rbg' (it doesn't have a simple poster so it doesn't quite work, I get it now) I had put off watching it because for some reason I was suspicious and had low expectations, so its greatness was a welcomed surprise. Tbh I think its better than spellbound. The tension in some scenes is palpable especially when she's trying to steal the keys and he takes her hand, it had my heart racing a bit. The camerawork, like always, is intriguing and impressive. Also, the chemistry between Grant and Bergman is tangible.

Mas como não deixa de ser Hitchcock também é um suspense policial com personagens que estão longe de ser perfeitos; ao contrário, a graça está em serem terrivelmente humanos e cometerem inúmeros erros. Pra mim, é um discussão sobre a estupidez humana, onde acompanhamos erros atrás de erros, dentro de uma rede de investigação. Diferente de outros filmes do Hitchcock, foi muito interessante ver um suspense mais lento e que não tinha nada enorme para acontecer. A sutileza é o que faz o filme ser tão bom. Os atores ajudam muito nesse processo e trazem uma humanidade perfeita para a história.
