Tenebre

A classic giallo, Tenebrae is as funny as it is scary. The thriller/horror has good suspense moments and plenty of scares yet there are multiple well timed jokes throughout. ‘Alright calm down its all over now’ has one of the funniest line deliveries I’ve seen, and the whole case does a good job at making the immersive story feel real. It’s a fun time but by no means the best giallo film I’ve ever seen.

Tenebre

Tenebre

The score The arm scene The long take scene Some month when/if anything in my life ever goes correct again I really do wanna devote time to bingeing (whether for the first time or a rewatch) as many if not all Argento films as I can. Yeah there were duds, but when he was at his best, there truly was nobody who compared. Deep Red>Suspiria>Inferno>Tenebrae (and my hot take is Phenomena after that too) is a legendary fucking run that doesn't get talked about enough

Tenebre

5am viewing, making it as if I'd come across Argento's party guests still roving about after a stylish all-nighter. The meta and the mystery are a playful combo, I can dig it

Tenebre

Dario Argento is a filmmaker that has left a standing impression on cinema. His masterpiece, Suspiria, is one of the finest films to have ever been released. When looking at the auteur's filmography, it's not a surprise that Tenebre ranks high among his films. It beautifully captures the essence of giallo, much better than the experimental predecessor Inferno. Every scene seems to have the same aesthetic throughout the film, creating a wonderfully cohesive look and feel that really is unique to giallo films. While Tenebre isn't Argento's best film, which still remains to be Suspria, it is still a wonderful example of what a director can do with a simple murder mystery, some very fake looking blood, and some of the most iconic scenes of the 80's.

Tenebre

I don't know how Argento does it, but he has crafted masterpiece after masterpiece. And Tenebre is no doubt one of his best. Argento and giallo go hand in hand. I've finally started to see exactly what giallo is (or at least how Argento has portrayed it), and this feels the most like it. The mystery, the suspense, the shots, all feel like they belong together. I wish I had been able to see this in high quality, since it would have been so much better. Tenebre is one film that I will not forget.

Tenebre

Another delight from Dario Argento, and I was NOT expecting that twist. Furthermore, it cannot be understated how much prog synth and giallo go together like peas and carrots.
