Diary entries forThe Plague of the Zombies
The Plague of the Zombies
Atmospheric beautiful Hammer film that doubles as a quality zombie film. If it'd been paced quicker than a snail's movement, it'd probably be one of my fav Hammer films
The Plague of the Zombies
A Hammer Film Production: Hammer Horror Ranked and Reviewed (https://boxd.it/1gohM) The undead rise in a particularly Gothic fashion in this one; thick with fog and dirt and tombstones—only thing is that this glorious scene takes place in a dream, but nonetheless, it doesn't take away from the fun. The idea of such horror in a teeny village and the stretch of land that enshrouds it, with its black magic household in the distance, is damn creepy, no matter how absurd this film can be. The Plague of the Zombies is fairly tame when compared to the magnitude of zombie-flicks that one would call to mind nowadays, which is what makes it even more refreshing to watch and soak in. Things really intensify in its third act—the Sherlock Holmes snoop gets down to business, and thrown in with the act of zombies and voodoo trickery, it's pretty fun to watch. This Hammer Horror production was certainly a blast, despite the wait towards its more than exciting third act. 3.4/5
