Marvelous! Humidity-heavy dive into the interior morass of the so-called creative process and Cry of the Artist... or at the least Fink's imminently punchable ego-squalor. Cast plays it up something fierce. If there was one thought that stood out in memory, it's that this might have been my favorite John Goodman role? This watch cinches it. Definitely my favorite John Goodman role.

trying to knock off some films from my watchlist. some kind of weird things are always happening in hollywood: coen brothers edition. liked that there was a lot of room for different metaphorical interpretations of some of the things you see in the film!

Legitimately one of the best surprises I’ve ever experienced watching a film. I went in expecting something great, instead I got something extraordinary. There are so many magnificent performances to behold in this film, ranging from hilarious, to heartbreaking, to terrifying. It’s truly a masterpiece of genre breaking excellence. The Coens show as writers, that there may be nobody in history as great as them at putting characters to the page, and then translating it to the screen. John Turturro gives one of the most underappreciated performances of all time, and I’m basing that on the fact that I never hear anyone talk about him in this movie. Wow, just unreal. And the same can be said for John Goodman who puts on a spectacle of character work. I can’t believe I let myself go this long without seeing this, but man am I glad I have now. I’ve been chasing this feeling in a new watch for a while now, but Barton Fink delivered.
