The Pit and the Pendulum
I'm not surprised I loved a "Stuart Gordon does Edgar Allen Poe" story so much. If only it wasn't basically the only film Rona de Ricci made; I was most impressed by her performance, even with Lance Henriksen doing incredible and also a surprise Oliver Reed appearance

Night 1 of 31 Nights of Halloween It isn’t a Halloween marathon without a Corman picture, and The Pit and the Pendulum hit exactly where I wanted it to. With lavish sets and costuming, this shows the power that Corman had as an artist. His direction made for a tense and, surprisngly, beautiful production, with a cast that honestly worked really well together. Corman’s adaptation of Poe’s stories really have been a treat to visit every year, and this is one of my favorites. I’ve been in quite a slump with movie watching recently, so it was so refreshing to get into something again, and I think this was a perfect way to start off my annual horror marathon! I absolutely cannot wait to get back into the groove of movie watching and watch some more great horror this month!

Thank you Barbara Steele for carrying horror in the 60s.
