A revolução de Matrix. O cinema de ação e fantasia do começo dos anos 2000 era marcado por uma estética ou cyberpunk ou neo gótica e Anjos da Noite é muito essa segunda parte. Roupas de couro, aquele cenário que se passa a noite, esses personagens que vivem em seus grupos. Infelizmente o subtexto sobre classes só ganha força no terceiro, aqui é tudo mais estético o que é legal. Só acho que ele começa muito bem e na reta final... Perde um pouco o tom. Faltou uma decupagem mais apurada pra isolar os momentos mais legais, mais badass da coisa e fica uma bagunça generalizada, mas é um marco dos anos 2000. Um pedaço da história.

Filing under Trash Suburbia Y2k, where hordes of leather and latex clad asses stretch to the very horizon [cut to black, heavy metal plays] But really, there's a scene where a vampire/werewolf gunfight is reflected off some designer Oakley-esque shades being worn at night. Can it get more quintessential than that?

I say this with all sincerity: they don’t make ‘em like this anymore. By which of course I mean, they don’t make mid-budget gothic/fantasy films anymore. I seriously doubt you could get an action film series about vampires vs. werewolves made these days—especially if it’s an unknown IP. Obviously I’ve always been very aware of these films. There are like 6 of them, for fucksake. But I’ve never watched them. I watched this one for…reasons. And I found myself not hating it entirely. Some of it is tedious and cliche buuuuut I still found myself interested enough to attempt the sequels. Plus, I reallydo love it when women get to be cunty action heroines.
