The DUFF

Is that a wiener in your mouth or are you just happy to see me? I'll admit, it has to be hard to pull off an even decent high school comedy. There's a lot you have to do to make it as timeless as possible, it's no easy task. That said, The DUFF sucked. The editing and writing are tiresome, the acting is decent at best, and the themes aren't just nothing special, but they're done in no way that makes them memorable. There's nothing in this movie that makes me want to care for what it's trying to say and do. It's really just an unfunny and out-of-touch coming of age story that fades into obscurity not long after it releases.

Unfortunately, I didn't find this one as much fun as I did the first time. I don't think I've ever watched a movie that is so stuck in its time as this one is. That said, I still quite enjoyed Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell's chemistry, which is without doubt the beating heart of this film.

The DUFF is your typical high school modern comedy. There were some parts of it I felt like they got right, but there were some parts that just didn't seem to go right. How can a video spread to every phone like that? Is there some strange app that everyone has that sends a video to every single phone in the school? I don't think so. Nevertheless, The DUFF is a decent comedy that actually is relatable to high school students today.
