On such a low budget, this film is does well at scaring the audience as well as having a simple but fun plot. The acting is great all round, and the mystery of the Blair Witch is interesting. It keeps you on edge and is a spooky watch in a tent.

Um trio de amigos está disposto a fazer um documentário sobre uma lenda de uma pequena cidade chamada Burkittsville, outrora Blair, sobre uma bruxa que é figura folclórica da cidade e que é cenário de várias histórias. Porém o documentário sobre algo fictício se transforma em uma série de terrores onde a floresta não faz sentido e a insanidade e desconfiança toma conta. Sendo um percursor do Found Footage na era digital, A Bruxa de Blair é um ótimo exemplo de como a limitação financeira, aliada com a criatividade de um roteiro que brinca com a tecnologia emergente de seu tempo, a internet, pra criar um filme "baseado em fatos reais" que ganha fama quando você cria uma atmosfera de imagens falsas, mas que por competência da direção, roteiro e narrativa vendem algo genuíno. É muito notório como o nome em inglês do filme faz mais sentido do que a sua tradução, enquanto a tradução vende uma história sobre bruxa, o nome original "The Blair Witch Project" fala mais sobre como aquele jovens na ânsia de criar um documentário sem grandes pretensões sobre uma lenda local que se transforma em um pesadelo. O filme não é sobre a bruxa, mas sobre como algo inocente se transforma num pesadelo. O verdadeiro monstro aqui é o isolamento, a desconfiança e a mente deteriorada de seus personagens conforme o filme progride e com seu final em aberto e elementos sobrenaturais que ficam em 2° plano, sem foco da câmera, que transformam esse filme em um grande filme de terror que é atemporal e com razão.

So glad to have sat down and watched it now rather than at the time while it was being endlessly hyped/parodied to no end. Had a wonderful, agonizing time! Slow-cooking dread on antiquated equipment, really capturing the effects of being stuck Out There... At Night ... and all the Other Things @_@ Reading the oral history was fascinating, I had no idea what had gone into it.
