it took a while to get into it in the beginning but as it progresses it sucks you in with the story. i absolutely love the directing, story, cinematography, and the use of music!! all the music used in this movie just elevates the scenes to the next level. that ending scene paired with lana's "born to die": perfect!

Mommy

Steve the sigma ohio rizzler boy, a toxic but interesting mother and son relationship to follow, I had mixed feelings watching it, a mother definitely wants the best for her child, all the decisions made must be the best, I almost cried when the "what ifs" scene was played, the mother has big and normal dreams for her child. And the best and most depressing part is the ending, it fits perfectly with the soundtrack, I was even contemplating until the credits and the song ended, the best ending i must say.

Funny, sad, original and beautiful. Engaging and provoking stuff. LOVED the framing, don't care if it's "gimmicky". It was great.

A story about mental illness and the struggles of dealing and living with it. We are shown with great discomfort many of the issues that can come when someone with a severe mental illness is left unhelped. Die (Anne Dorval) is depicted as a flawed but sympathetic mother who is struggling to raise her child alone, she makes some good decisions and she makes some bad ones and that adds a sense of depth to her character and makes her far more believable as a single mother struggling to make the right decisions. This film is excellently acted and brilliantly shot and even uses the aspect ration in a very unique way, I don't see a whole lot of filmmakers utilizing the aspect ratio to reinforce character development but it worked great here. A tad slow in some spots but nothing major and a bit of a bummer throughout but it's great, worth the watch.
