The Homesman
The idea of the wild west has been an idea that has always captivated me. Ever since I was young, I always dreamed of traveling back in time to see the settlement of the west - but I never found myself interested in Western films. Westerns have been the hardest genre for me to get into, since many of the films cannot keep my interest, or I just don't enjoy in general. It wasn't until recently that I found some films that I do enjoy within the genre, with The Sisters Brothers being the first film that sparked my interest. The Homesman follows suit, with a bleak Western showing the hardships for women, as well as the effects of living in isolation. This is a beautifully shot film, and shows the strength and endurance that the settlers had to try to survive. This is a remarkable film, and has yet again opened my eyes to what westerns have the capability of putting out. I will continue to attempt to watch more of this genre, and hopefully grow more fond of it as I go along.
