Me decepcionou muito em comparação ao primeiro. Principalmente o final... simplesmente grotesco, não faz sentido ele se mostrar alguém tão compreensivo em relação a história dela e tão verdadeiro sobre a dele, para depois o que...aquela cena que destruiu o personagem e o final do filme também. Fora outros pontos, o filme em si deixou muito a desejar. enfim, não é horrível mas também não é um filme bom.

Longer than, more cynical compared to, and not as good as, the first part/"volume". Been a major fan of Von Trier's work so far, but this was the first feature (that wasn't a student work of his) that was close to a miss for me; the ambition was clear, and a 5.5 hour study on sexuality is admirable to pursue, but this didn't fully work and this second part suffers most for it, especially because there's no Uma Thurman to salvage it

Auteurs: Lars von Trier Film #12: Nymphomanic - Vol. II The concluding film of Lars von Trier's sexual epic, Nymphomanic: Vol. II is the more agressive, drama-filled film. This second half by far is the better half, with a more intriguing story of Joe's later life. The sexuality that abounded the first film seems more subdued here, a little more mature as Joe ages. Nymphomaniac is such an interesting film, and I still am surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I have. For von Trier's latest film, at least until The House that Jack Built, I can say that I am very impressed with the final film in the Depression trilogy. I cannot wait to see what else von Trier has in store. This film really is a great way to finish off the first installment in my Auteurs series.

If sex sells, then Lars Von Trier's sex driven Nymphomniac uses and abuses the statement in a realistic and demanding depiction. And it's the least bit sexy. I tell you that now before anyone's the slightest horny. Don't underestimate the film though, Vol.1 of the smutty Nymphomaniac is challenging and hypnotic with a luring pulse, while Vol. 2 is the sloppy seconds. Yes, it breaks the rules. Joe's sexual exploration sits and soaks. And we can't help but be a grueling eye witness. It's rule-breaking does so with likable fashion and then sometimes not. The naked truth is Nymphomaniac's second act attempts an aggression of outdoing itself to stir and provoke. There's no need for Joe's sex-crazed biography to meet every splice of sex-life. And when there is sex, it's lousy filler. Rarely does Vol. 2 share the same enticing quality Vol. 1 owns. It's a turn-off when a few 'WTFs' come into focus. Big turn-on though is the hard-boiled cast. Walking exhibition, Shia LaBeouf boasts with an invigorating demeanor. His Sam Witwicky days are officially over. And protagonist Charlotte Gainsbourg, a Lars Von Trier regular, works her way through an honest-to-god performance. Her and Stellan Skarsgard provide the best, despite a breakdown in their chemistry with Vol. 2. And if the excitement of finally seeing Willem Defoe in Vol. 2 turns you on, it's okay to resort to the first volume. There we had Uma Thurman. Here we have a pretty much useless character portrayed by a great actor. Stop toying with us, Lars. What you can get a kick out of in Vol. 2 though is Jamie Bell, the volume's finest performance. The mystery he is manages to lure all eyes on him. To say there is greatness in the Nymphomaniac tale is tough. Nymphomaniac Vol. 1's spearheading sexual encounters are the gist of its ground breaking exposure. Yet Vol. 2 is all filler and no killer. Sex with no hum designates Nymphomaniac's secondary to crap itself. Hard. From auspicious endeavors to oodles of disappointment, the last exit is louder in mind. That is bad. GRADE: B-
