Return of the Living Dead Part II
Nowhere near as great as the first one, and not as fun as the third one, but considering how the series ended, I'll still gladly take average here
Return of the Living Dead Part II
Compared to the first this was a massive downgrade. This has no connection to the first whatsoever. It also is basically a remake of the first. So much similar stuff. I'll still give it props for actually revealing a way the zombies can die in this universe. They so look worse in this though. The characters also were dumb besides Jesse, most of them were just screaming for like 30 mins. Most of the dialogue was pretty weird and out of place at points. The blood/gore is very tame compared to other zombie films. The plot was very similar the only difference was kids finding the pod. I do really like that zombies can talk in this universe though, makes them more scary especially when they are hard to kill in this too.
Return of the Living Dead Part II
#14 of 31 Days of Madness: October 2017 (https://boxd.it/1fIvM) Return of the Living Dead Part II doesn't seem to mess around—much like the first—as it takes off into undead territory in a matter of minutes and in a very similar fashion to its predecessor: the barrels are accidentally unearthed and scattered across the graveyard, leading to the many shouts of "brains! brains!" that grumble from the opposition. This horror-comedy sequel returns with a child protagonist and a lot of hysterical screaming, which surprisingly make it somewhat worthwhile, despite the lack of brilliance this one has. The charm is over-the-top and often hilarious, even though it eventually wears out—the comedy seems to overlap the scares which won't be favored by a lot of viewers. But, there were times where I would uncontrollably laugh due to the absurd reactions by some characters—these moments mixed with the terror that faces them make it that much more entertaining. It's nowhere near the greatness of the original, but it is worthy of being a decent enough sequel, thanks to the silliness inside its horror template. 2.8/5
