The Entity

Domesticity is a prison in the female body. But what happens when it materializes into the intangible? Hurdling oneself into despair? Hopelessness? Dutch tilts and heavy metal gut-knifes the film into the paranormal. A Rated-R Poltergeist (https://letterboxd.com/film/poltergeist/) that doesn’t play into the loving family narrative. Barbara Hershey is a force, her portrayal a brutality in realism, tears and all, shrieks of terror from the gut. It’s a woman’s world, and a lonely one at that in a man’s construction towards understanding. Seeing is believing, and what relief when we see the same thing, when we’re on the same page on all that we don’t know.
