I was so ready for this to be just a overrated classic but turns out the rumours are true and it really is a cinematic masterpiece. Coppola set the bar so high that it even seems unfair to compare this film with any other in the same genre, maybe even in general. i genuinely started questioning my rating system after watching it. It's understandable why so many later works references its scenes, the godfather simply is the blueprint. every character is complex on its own way, there's many iconic lines, a memorable theme, the acting is terrific and the ending deserved an standing ovation.
