Sucker Punch
I know that if I had seen this movie when it first came out, I would have hated it. I was much more of a snob back then. It definitely feels like a movie of its time, but you can tell that it is a Zack Snyder movie that the same time. Also, I'm not going to act like this is some kind of misunderstood movie either. It's very, very dumb. But I was entertained throughout it. If you take it for what it is, which is a "modern day" girls and guns action movie, it does that very well. It has a good soundtrack l, courtesy of some of the actors in the movie, that works well with the hyper fantasy worlds that are creates throughout the movie. All in all, its just dumb fun, even if it isn't a movie that makes a whole lot of sense. Definitely better than the Rebel Moon movies.

Let's be real the movie is very liked because bitches want to dress up in sexy outfits while slicing motherfucker in half. I'm bitches. Now that was said, in reality, the movie is not great. Story-wise is trash and visually it has not aged well. Still...I'm bitches.

I didn't know what was happening half the time, but it was so cunty that I didn't give a fuck! Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch is a strange and intense movie about girls trying to escape a world that controls them. It mixes reality and fantasy in a way that’s sometimes confusing, but full of meaning. One of the most interesting things about the movie is how it uses dancing as a way to fight back. In the story, the girls are trapped in a place where men watch them dance. But when Baby Doll, the main character, dances, she goes into a dream world in her mind. In that dream world, she fights monsters, robots, and other enemies. These battles show how strong and brave she really is, even though in the real world, she’s being forced to perform. For the girls, dancing is more than just a performance. It becomes a way to escape and take back power. They can’t fight back in the real world, so they fight in their minds. Each time they dance, they become warriors. It’s their way of saying, “We won’t let you control us.” What’s interesting is that the men watching the dances think it’s beautiful. They feel amazed and even “free” when they watch. But they don’t understand what’s really happening. While they think it’s just for fun, the girls are actually using the dances to plan their escape and fight the system. Dancing becomes their secret weapon. It helps them feel strong, even when everything around them is trying to keep them small. Some people think the movie sends a mixed message—because it still shows the girls in revealing outfits and uses a lot of action and style. But if you look deeper, the story is about how girls can use even the little freedom they’re given to fight back. Even if it’s just in their imagination, it means something.

One Flew Over the Matrix I feel like I just ate an entire “slow-mo, fuzzy CGI, badass action” sandwich, and I NEED MOOORRRE. Snyder's movies are so fun to watch.

*Extended cut I was genuinely surprised by how fun this was. Action set pieces were awesome, likable characters and I really enjoyed the battle sequences as an escape from the dreary and exploitative setting of the mental institution. On another note, release the Snyder cut.

“You have all the weapons you need. Now fight.” I’m actually a big fan of Zack Snyder. Most of the time I know what I’m getting out of his films and most of the time I enjoy them. That being said, I never had any particular interest in watching SUCKER PUNCH, a film that came and went back in 2011. But the mood finally struck me to give the extended edition a try. I’m glad I did. A fantastical journey of self discovery, solidarity and reclaiming your power. All set to bombastic anime influenced action sequences. I had a good time. Also, I think this just may be Zack’s most bittersweet/sad ending? 300 or this. Which was nice to see as that’s not particularly a side we get from him.
