Very neat film. Everyone always talks about the sets, and yes thry are amazing. But what really stuck out to me is how you could always tell that they were sets, kind of like watching a play, which was neat.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
To say this film is over 100 years old is unbelievably impressive as it lays the prototype for films of today. The twist ending, beautiful score and unique set designs make this a masterpiece. The film is silent so for me it’s hard to really feel engaged with any character, but for the year this came out it’s undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time. By today’s standards it can be a little long to get through, but maybe that’s just me finding all silent films difficult to get through. It’s one of the classics and a must watch before you die.

Absolutely obsessed with the set design, and I see why this was such an inspirational and pioneering film of the horror genre. I just wasn’t hooked by the story, but still glad I watched it. Would be great to throw this on at a Halloween party, just for the vibes alone.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one of the most impressive feature films I have ever seen, with one of the bleakest endings as well. We get to see pure horror on the screen, told through some beautiful sets and vibrant colored scenes. It’s astounding to think that this film was released 100 years ago and remains to be an influential piece of art. I’d love to get my hands on a physical copy of this film, since it’s one that I want to revisit over and over again, to truly put myself into this mad world.

23 anos de soneca, poxa vida hein Césare!
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Um verdadeiro clássico. Prefiro acreditar que o Dr. Caligari era apenas o diretor do manicômio que o narrador frequentava. A primeira aparição do Cesare é muito forte, especialmente quando ele diz “até o amanhecer”. A música e o clima de suspense se encaixam perfeitamente no filme. No fim, o terror não vem do Cesare, mas da estrutura que permite que alguém como Caligari exista.
