Moscow on the Hudson
This is a very well-made, well-acted, and probably well-meaning, propaganda about things that are not really true (and probably never were true) - American inclusivity, the greatness of the American way of life, and the country's acceptance (if not love) for immigrants. Ronald Reagan's name is mentioned a few times, while the idea that you can become happy and successful in the country of the free if you grind hard enough at the couple of underpaid, physically hard jobs, is constantly shoved in our faces. And all that with an utmost sincerity, and during Ronald Reagan's presidency. What a thoroughly American stuff about non-Americans who want, maybe even dream and will do anything, to become Americans. I feel only a few countries can be so utterly American, and America is only one of them.
