Final 20 minutes are extremely gross and I should have definitely not been eating anything while viewing

Truth be told I only swooped in to catch that fabled third act and I was not disappointed. @_@

Night 4 of 31 Nights of Halloween Society is one interesting being. Being a psychological thriller, which turns out into a full fledged body horror, this film certainly is a lot to unpack, but it was one hell of a film. Managing to create the similar tension and paranoia in Rosemary’s Baby, Society twists and turns, never letting up until the unforgettable climax. It’s a fantastic 80’s horror film that I am surprised I haven’t heard about more, since it is one of the better horror films from the 80’s. The practical effects are great, and paired with an impressive amount of tension and paranoia, this film becomes one horrifying reality.

"The whole thing was weird." This is probably the best unaired (and uncut) episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark you'll see. Grotesque, outrageous, and strangely giddy; these are only a few words to describe Brian Yuzna's directorial debut—a one big fuck-you to upper class society and all its rules. Everything about its premise is strangely relatable—a teenager in the depths of his family's alienation suddenly suspects something more to bizarre to it. Okay, maybe its premise isn't exactly relatable. Society excessively reflects the exaggerated indifference between parent and child that every teen faces, and to a degree, the film depicts it faithfully, however insane it gets. From its momentarily heavenly score and its spotless suburban family that's all too good to be true, to the sinister premonition that comes with its title theme/eerie lullaby, Society paints the paranoia in silly doses from its down-to-earth protagonist. The rich suck the low class shit and dine in an orgy of the ugly and extreme—the result is a masterclass of spine-tingling practical FX and surrealistic energy. The shitty 80s keyboard and obscure, cheesy hits of comedy may weigh the film down, but for the most part, Society is a deranged, entertaining, and pretty flamboyant in the most dangerous terms type of horror. 3.8/5

This is actually an impressive body horror mixed with comedy. It might be a bit slow in the first and second act, BUT it really pays off with the last act. This topic of this movie still important to this day. Everything about this is campy and in my opinion still holds even though you feel the last 80s early 90s vibes. Poor billy...

“𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢? 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮? 𝘚𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳? 𝘖𝘳 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵?” The kind of movie that I like. At first, you're not exactly sure where it's going. Is it horror? Is it thriller? Why does everyone hate this really hot boy? Questions and questions build up to the very shocking end that made my stomach churn. Wonderfully executed. It's John Hughes meets Wes Craven chewed up and tossed into a blender to serve a mush hot and gross and grotesquely entertaining. “𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦…𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴.
