“Death is too easy for you, bitch.” Pam Grier‼️ Pam Grier‼️ Pam Grier‼️ What a woman. What a star. Even in the moments where the film falls flat, Grier makes FOXY BROWN feel fun, fresh and sexy. The lesbian bar fight scene? Hilarious. As someone who discovered Grier through Tarantino’s best film Jackie Brown it was great to see where her career started to take off. Will be going through more of her filmography—and by extension, Blaxploitation films this month.

Criterion Channel Surfing #4 FOXY BROWN (1974) dir. Jack Hill Unapologetically sexy, cheesy, and violent, Foxy Brown is a great piece of blaxploitation cinema. A clear inspiration for Quentin Tarantino’sworks (especially the early ones), this film follows our protagonist on a quest for revenge — and she doesn’t take well to any jive-ass turkeys in her way. It’s genuinely funky, but Jack Hillis aware what type of film he’s making. Though a little slow in some parts, the overall tone is prevalent throughout which is heightened by Pam Grier’sfabulous performance as the ever so sexy Foxy. It’s a nice, juicy slice of 70’s exploitation, and who doesn’t love that? It’s fun, titillating stuff, but that’s about it.
