Alice in the Cities
such a beautiful film about a journey through life where you have the feeling of being incongruous to any place in the world, where you're a lost soul looking through a glass of wandering.
Alice in the Cities
Criterion Channel Surfing #12 ALICE IN THE CITIES (1974) dir. Wim Wenders A warmly contemplative piece of cinema, from the brilliant mind of director Wim Wenders, about the essence of being and the joy of self-discovery.Alice in the Cities follows the familiar tropes of a classic Wenders experience. A journalist undergoes a dense sense of writer’s block on his mission to write about the American landscapes — he states he does not feel connected to it in any way. On his way back to Germany he is left to take care of a little girl named Alice, a bright yet hard headed child. The plot is thin, yet the substance is massive. Essentially a road movie, Alice in the Citiesfollows Philip’s journey to enlightenment — a long, often infuriating odyssey. It’s the type of film to make you really understand how good life really is...or how much you’re squandering. It’s been a while since I’ve gone on a romantic walk with my significant other. I think I’ll drop by and surprise her.
Alice in the Cities
What an experience! Two hours length just following Philip and Alice journey. Honestly, nothing really happens here, but something magical and special is right over here. Wim Wenders through Alice in the Cities serve me a melancholic, poetic, n realistic journey between Philip n Alice. This movie feels like a life in its most genuine form. Following their journey in this beautiful bnw 16 mm film is such a lovely n meaningful experience. I can't easily forget to the character of Philip, he stuck in my mind. He's one of the most realistic character ever portray in a movie. He deppresed, he lost, he confused. That's the way universe to growing us up, relateable. We suppose to be thankful. I find a piece of me in him. It's my first ride in Wim Wenders' The Road Trilogi. Can't wait to experience another ride!
