Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I have no clue why I put this on, but still had fun watching it. It’s interesting to see the series go from the horrors that Hitler inflicted to the beginning of the Cold War, it would be nice to see them explore it a little more in the next installment in the series.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
After the finale of the Indiana Jones trilogy, they decide "Hey, let's make another!" and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is conceived. An older Jones and a different era make up this film. Instead of facing the Nazi party, now they are facing the Communists. It was interesting to see how they used the Communists as the villains, as the Cold War was just starting to get heated. It was great to see Indiana back! Although Harrison Ford is much older, he still had a skip in his step once he suited up as Indiana. Cate Blanchett actually stood out a lot for me. It was really nice getting to see some old faces (pardon the pun) from previous films! Altogether, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull isn't the strongest film in the series, but it isn't as terrible as people make it out to be. There were some choices that were... interesting (why would celestial beings even be considered for an action movie?) This film hopefully marks the end to a fantastic series, even though it doesn't go out with such a bang as I was hoping.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull certainly is the oddest film in the Indiana Jones franchise. Leaving Nazis behind, Russians now become the villains of the story, seeing a distinct change throughout the entire film. It's interesting seeing how the film did change when it came to the villains, having a completely different view on the villains. This film is probably the least accessible of the series, since it happens to be the most outrageous. The previous films had that believability to it, where you could see these adventures actually happening. For the most part this is true for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but once the film reaches its climax, this believability dissipates, leaving you wondering if this film was a joke, or if this really was what they thought was a good idea for Indiana Jones.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I just don't get the hate for this movie at all. I mean yeah the writers strike happened in '08 but this was so fun. Looks better than Modern blockbusters, the action or set pieces are great. Cate Blanchett I would do ANYTHING for her, she's so fine. Spielberg's camera movement feels so "classic" or I just love his style in 2000's idk how to describe it. Nuke Fridge goated. Cate please hmu.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
this is an insult to archeology and history
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
68/100 It’s honestly not bad but Steven Spielberg’s obsession with aliens and UFOs is a bit too much. He always tries to up the same concept and same design every single time. He kinda overdid it here but it was a spectacle. Right off the bat, Harrison Ford is as good as ever, he still does a lot of heavy lifting and credit to him for that. I was very happy to see Karen Allen back. She’s so naturally charming it just makes you smile, let alone Indy. Shia is surprisingly great too, I thought he’d be like his Transformers character but although there were traits, he was quite balanced and his jokes landed. Indy stole the show quite easily and fairly so. Cate Blanchett I thought was wasted but hey she looked gorgeous even with that haircut. Overall, the movie had a bit of archaeologist work, some mystery solving and a shit ton of action, didn’t think it deterred too much from the OG trilogy. I do get why people hate on this, nostalgia factor, poorer writing and the extra action but it still has its merits and is very simple enough to entertain you. It doesn’t warrant much attention at all and that’s fine. Sometimes, this film lacks total logic and it’s just hilarious.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
i want to like this but yeah.. calling bullshit on surviving a nuke by being in a fridge
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
This is incredibly overhated. Sure not everything works and the set pieces aren’t as good as Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, but it’s still a pretty fun time. 7.5/10
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I haven’t watched KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLsince it first came out. All I remember people saying for years after it released was that it was the worst one, that it was too silly, that it ruined the franchise, etc. But I feel the same way watching it now as I did over a decade ago: that wasn’t that bad. In fact, I thought it was pretty fun and I loved the unexpected sci-fi mystery aspect of the film. In a series that all but confirmed God’s existence twice there was really no other direction to take it in, other than a re-tread of Crusade and Raiders. There are a few CGI scenes that look suspect here and there, but I’ll let it slide because a.) there’s not that much of it. b.) the actual sets and cinematography look gorgeous. Kamiński’s style on a Spielberg Indiana Jones movie? I’m sorry but you just gotta love it. The father/son element was an…interesting idea but I think it was underdeveloped. It could have been great as a juxtaposition toCrusade but unfortunately, it falls flat. Worried that Dial of Destiny might do the boring and expected thing after the reaction to this one and re-tread the original trilogy, but I trust Mangold. So here’s hoping his take on Indy blows me away!
