L.A. Confidential

We need to do a scientific study on why 1997 produced some of the best movies ever made. The first time I heard of this movie was when I heard some people on a podcast say that this movie should have beaten Titanic for best picture. While I don't necessarily agree with that sentiment, I will say, this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. An extremely well crafted noir film involving police corruption in 1950s Hollywood. Great performances. I'm a bit surprised that Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe weren't featured more prominently on the movie poster, given how large of a role they had in the film. It's funny how much the character Russell Crowe plays is similar to his role in The Nice Guys, but done through the scope of a different genre film.

L.A. Confidential

Truly special, this film is one for the ages. Everything is perfect, from the acting to the action, it’s a true classic of film. It pushes barriers to the human psyche and makes you question what you’d do in difficult situations. A masterpiece.

L.A. Confidential

I’ve just become a sucker for noir movies, and they can only be made better by having Russel Crowe and Guy Pearce

L.A. Confidential

Ótimo suspense policial com várias reviravoltas, ele ficou um pouco confuso com a quantidade de personagens, mas acho que fica mais esclarecido com o livro original.

L.A. Confidential

78/100 It is a bit too impulsive but they explored the corruption really well. Every Guy Pierce performance I see is Oscar calibre yet the man has never been nominated. This movie requires some concentration though. Many a times, I had to keep rewinding. It did feel like a proper investigation. I liked the ending because the policeman who was morally correct and was procedural had to resort to the lower levels in order to rid the city of corruption. Sometimes, you gotta do what it takes.

L.A. Confidential

"some men get the world; some get an ex-hooker and a ticket to Arizona". This movie is overrated and throws every type of person I hate into one story: rats, snitchers, cheaters, Whores, corrupted policemen. All of this to make it mid asf.

L.A. Confidential

Do you guys know that tik tok sound that goes, “blah blah blah proper name, place name, backstory stuff”, yep that was me every time Guy Pearce was on that laptop screen.  Seriously though, I really enjoyed this. Proper 90s thriller/noir stuff. Great acting and I didn’t find the script “confusing” or anything as such. I feel like I will be revisiting it again in the future. And I can’t I just can’t for the life of me understand what would prompt someone to give this movie a rating of like 2 stars? Why?😭😭

L.A. Confidential

25 years later, what I thought in 1997 is still true, this deserved Best Picture. What a fucking movie. It is shocking to me that Guy Pearce never became and enormous star. He’s perfect in this and in MEMENTO, and always reliable in anything. Maybe my favorite Crowe performance? Spacey is also perfect in this as the sleazy Vincennes, it’s frustrating that he’s apparently even sleazier in reality.
