Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
An old favorite, lacking approximately zero of its original campy charm -- dare I say the enjoyment is magnified all the more as its 80's/90's stylings slowly seep back into our day-to-day. "The Cat From Hell" remains my far-and-away favorite segment.
Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
I think what I enjoy the most about Tales from the Darksideis the fact that it feels like a much better part 3 to Creepshow. The shorts are extremely entertaining, mainly due to their similar feel to the Creepshowshorts. This is due to the fact that many of the crew came back to create this film. It's a must watch film for horror fans and one of the better horror films of the 90's.

Another anthology! Let's look, per usual, at the shorts: Lot 249- This short was the weakest of the bunch. It was a great start to the movie though! It wasn't terrifying, but it wasn't boring either. The creature was well done and the plot actually was really interesting. And hey, it's Julianne Moore's first time being on screen! ★★½ Cat from Hell- The atmosphere was amazing! It just oozed out dread! Who knew that a little cat could be such a great and terrifying creature! The small cast kept it isolated, making the short feel that more scary! The effects were just as chilling! ★★★½ Lover's Vow- It seems they saved the best for last! This short was truly scary. I understand that the creature was changed from the traditional tale to make it scarier, but it would have been interesting to see the original idea on screen (if interested, look into the Yuki-onna spirit). The effects were breathtaking and it was the best of the bunch! ★★★★ Tales from the Darkside is a great horror anthology for those looking for tales that are macabre and done very well. It's very similar to the Creepshow films (I even read this is the "unofficial" sequel to them), so it's done very well and is of good quality. There needs to be more anthology movies like this, since they are a blast to watch, especially when the special effects are A+ like these ones were!
