T2 Trainspotting

79/100 I think this is almost as good a film as the original. It’s about life coming full circle, no drugs just life as it’s intended to be. The crooks get crooked and the supposedly better ones survive but everyone gets fucked nonetheless. Again the music is pretty good in this. There is more of a story here and honestly a great last 15 minutes. At least the sane ones got rid of the insane one. The good part about this film is it’s all about life after addiction. In ways, a film with soul. And finally, there was a train if not trainspotting.

T2 Trainspotting

T2 Trainspotting is far from the greatness of the original, but, it is quite better than what you might think. Following the return of Edinburgh's heroin addicts, T2 takes place twenty years later, the group dismantled, and our characters somewhat unchanged. The film's style and quality is much in vein with the original; dazzling displays of artistic vision from Danny Boyle percolate on screen in a delightful manner, while it can be weary at times. Its first half is a tedious setback to the second; the arrival of old faces are each searching for their part in the film, and there isn't a lot to hook its audiences with. But, from its halfway point to the end, T2 Trainspotting is a ton of fun. It isn't a necessary film, but, nonetheless, it is a film anyone should be glad to watch.

T2 Trainspotting

The world changes, even if we don’t. I’m probably benefiting from having seen the first film for the very first time just days ago, but this was a very satisfying follow up. Not only was it gorgeous (the use of yellow and green lighting just like in the original, was oh so excellent) but thematically, I just found it really resonant as well. It takes the themes of toxic friendship it established in the original and goes further. Sick Boy and Renton have known each other since their teens. They ended on bad terms, to put it lightly. They’ve been apart 20 years, and there’s clearly enough unresolved issues between the two of them for several joint therapy sessions and yet...no matter how betrayed they feel, no matter how angry, no matter how much they fight, their friendship endures. Despite it all. It’s quite something. Some friends you’re just stuck with for life, and though you’d never admit it, you wouldn’t have it any other way.

T2 Trainspotting

73/100 I like it. However it’s completely unnecessary. The first one was a brilliant film and ended brilliantly. Whenever I watch the first film I’ll only watch that one. It ends there for me. This isn’t a bad film. Probably the most unnecessary film ever. That “Choose Life” scene was amazing.

T2 Trainspotting
