Eu amo como Luc Besson criou uma obra que conversa muito com o tempo ao qual ele foi produzido. O Quinto Elemento é colorido, é surtado, tem todos os aspectos de uma space opera que se passa entre as décadas de 1980 e 1990. Sim, ele tem uma problemática de hipersexualização feminina muito forte e o texto sobre "amor" pode soar piegas, mas ele é tão intenso, tão exagerado que é um melodrama em sua essência. Isso aqui é Star Wars, se Star Wars tivesse tido a coragem de sair da sua zona de conforto que manteve a franquia estacionada há mais de década, digo mesmo.

*rewatch Still holds up. The show stoppers are, of course, the Gaultier costumes and the second half of the film when things go BOOM! Chris Rock still steals the film away from everyone, even from the blue opera singer with a performance that is flamboyant in the same way Robin Williams performed around the same time.
