South Pacific

Film #4 of August 2017 Scavenger Hunt Task #6: Watch a film based on a Pulitzer Prize Winning novel. This watch of South Pacific has been one a long time waiting. Having bought the blu ray late last year, this film has been sitting in my collection for a very long time, just waiting for me to finally watch it. Seeing that I could put this into the scavenger hunt this month, I was extremely excited to finally watch this film, since my dad saw the play a few years back and told me that I'd love it. And love it I did. The story is very simple, but still manages to keep your attention. The songs are fantastic, even with the odd choice of filters, which I ended up enjoying a lot by the time the film was over. I'm really glad to finally have seen this film, since it's a musical that I have been wanting to watch for a very long time.

South Pacific

South Pacific marks a big achievement for me. This is the 200th film that I have seen in theaters. I am so happy that I got to watch South Pacific all over again, since I really had forgotten how much I really love this musical. The songs are amazing, the characters are likable, and I even have grown to enjoy the colored filter over the musical numbers, something that many people seem to have a problem with. While it can be distracting, it does seem to transport you into a dream-like place, allowing you to really take in every word and every beat within the songs. South Pacific really is the perfect film to celebrate this achievement with, and I'm so glad that the theater I work at decided to show this. 200 films down already in theaters, and I'm only just getting started.

South Pacific

Who can explain it? Who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons, wise men never tryy I rarely watch musical films, but since Some Enchanted Evening was mentioned, I decided to give this one a try. The cinematography in this film is truly outstanding, the bold shifts in color grading are incredibly eye catching. And the fact that the story is set on an island near the ocean makes the atmosphere look even more beautiful and captivating. The story itself is quite good. Rossano Brazzi and Mitzi Gaynor manage to build a romantic connection that really melts the audience’s heart. Their contrasting backgrounds add a bittersweet layer to the drama that lingers all the way to the end of the film. Once you have found her never let her go~
