O irmão do Naz fez o papel dele certinho.

Texas as portrait through people. The rich, the poor. Minority and white. Texas is just example, in large part, of America as stolen land. And land, perhaps, is always meant to be stolen from, taken from, and leaves those with so little in this massive three hour film. Cats shriek. Oil spurts. Land goes on and on. You wonder when it ends. James Dean drunk and alone and old? A fight against racism in a diner? Or does it end when you find purpose only to have it disposed so quickly by Uncle Sam? Big themes are tackled here in what feels like an American classic, one so shoulder close to another James Dean picture, the adaptation ofEast of Eden (https://letterboxd.com/bulgogiboi/film/east-of-eden/) But in the year this film came out, I cannot help but think of the great Elizabeth Taylor as she was robbed of an Oscar. To be a woman is to perform. And ohhh baby does Liz Taylor give a performance. Against pressures and reactions, mothering is everything. It’s terrible how much of it Liz has to do it, to prove that she is a stronghold beyond fortune and fancy. That she is herself, rightfully so. All as she ages. And gracefully she does. Surprised to see such a quiet performance from James Dean as this is his last film. Rock Hudson too, who mediates both star performances with his own stoic stronghold. 🥮🥮🥮 If you enjoyed this write-up, please consider purchasing my novella here (https://nathansnook.bigcartel.com/).
