The jumpscare stills shocked me and make me so scared even tho this movie already 20 years ago. What if i watched this when released? It must be making me trauma. Thailand's most scarier horror till this day me think. Anyway he and his friend are deserved even deserved to go to hell.

Shutter

Lento demais pra pouca coisa acontecer, mas é legalzinho. O final é mais desconfortável que o resto do filme.

Shutter

Asian cinema is one of the most captivating areas for foreign films to come out of. Regardless of the genre, Asian films have a different air to them, an air that can send chills down your spine, leave you in utter confusion, or make you fall head-over-heels in love, among many other feelings. Asian cinema is no different than any other area of the world, as every other part of the world produces films the exact same way. But the one area that Asian cinema has seemed to find a knack for is horror. Horror is a genre that any country or part of the world can easily do. Scaring people is easy enough, but it's hard to beat a horror film that comes out of Asia. For many countries, their mythology and culture is very different than that of the United States, offering another look at the horrors around the world that are not experienced within the United States. As the culture in Asia is very different, it's not a surprise to see that the horror films that are released are equally as different and unique. Shutter comes from Taiwan, a country that I have seen little films produced from. It's interesting to see a film produced by a country that you haven't seen anything from before, because it can give you an interesting first impression. Needless to say, Shutter left a lasting impression on me. Being an Asian horror film, I knew that I was going to be in for something that would definitely send chills down my spine, and chills most certainly were sent. Ghosts are an element that are found in every part of the world, but Asian ghosts seem to be the most terrifying. It's a breath of fresh air to find a horror film that doesn’t entirely rely on jump scares. Horror films should be able to offer those frights, but should be able to crawl under your skin, getting to you psychologically, leaving a lasting terror, rather than a burst of terror from a jump scare. Shutter offers jump scares, but also manages to burrow itself under your skin, leaving you wondering if there is something following you around. With photography being easily available today, this film has a very different feel from a modern perspective, which can be a good and a bad thing. A look into how photography is today compared to how it was when this film was released shows just how far technology has quickly advanced and how truly terrifying things found on printer photographs can be. The first horror film I have seen from Taiwan certainly was not a let-down. Shutter is a film that I have seen before, as I have watched the American version of it, which nearly always is less scary and less atmospheric than the original material, with the same being said for this film. The American film managed to only rely on jump scares, completely ditching the horrifying atmosphere that this film has. It's always nice to see that the source material for horror films is better than the remake, especially with this being one of the most known films to come out of Taiwan. Shutter is a truly horrifying film that makes me even more interested to see what Taiwan has to offer, as well as watch even more Asian horror films.
