The Uninvited

The Uninvited may seem like your traditional ghost story, but this is entirely a different being! Instead of focusing on the ghosts, it focuses on the story of the ghosts, only revealing the ghosts a few times. The atmosphere constantly stays lighthearted, which is very strange for a horror film. Strangely enough, it works! The Uninvited is one of the iconic classic horror films. Though it may not be considerably scary, it changed the perception that horror has to be scary, to having a story with good characters and keeping the frights minimal.

Rick Fitzgerald is Shane Madej because he literally says, "Hey there demons, its me ya boi!" as he introduces himself to his soon-to-be mothers in laws

The Uninvited

Light is overrated; dark and somber is the way to go. Thus, the lighting in The Uninvited is no doubt the most outstanding feature. It builds the intensity in each scene, and constructs a magnificent backdrop. The pay off in the plot isn't what I expected though; I wasn't creeped out at all (though one can argue that the misty figure is a creeper), and the unfolding mystery didn't keep me overly intrigued. Next time, Ima order the somber and creepy special. But regardless, I did enjoy the way this 1940s horror entertained me. It utilized foreboding cinematography and an innovative story which would satisfy me any day of the week.

The Uninvited

Really nice, picturesque setting that elevates the film. Where is Miss Bird's spin off?? Such an amusing, eccentric character, played by a good actress. Good effects for the apparitions. The film got me 2-3 times. Roderick literally throwing a candelabrum at the icy cold ghost...it makes me laugh, but is also lowkey iconic?
