Haunting and impressionistic. I appreciate that the film makes it clear how much John was motivated mainly by his hatred of his ex wife, and a desire to get his children back. Lee Boyd Malvo is a complicated figure, abused and brainwashed, and also a murderer. I think the way the film surfaces and presents some of this is good, and hits home with that final moment. Really smartly done.
