I liked it. Concept is - of course - done before but this is a rite of passage for any Denzel fan. He is so unique. I just watched a TikTok video about the uniqueness of actors and he represents that. The way he walk, pursues his lip, the way he speaks - perfect protagonist.

Denzel Washington gives yet another one is his stronger characters! The Equalizer itself was alright. The concept has been done before, so it was pretty predictable. Denzel really did shine in this though. He really made the movie worth watching. The ending is like Home Alone on steroids (I don't want to potentially spoil things, so I'll just leave it at that). It's crazy! Probably the best part of the movie! The Equalizer is a film that has been done before, but breathes a little fresh air into your typical "revenge" film.

75/100 Antoine Faqua has one purpose in life - make Denzel look like the baddest motherfucker alive. And he does an excellent job every single time. Not every star can carry a film on his back but Denzel is one of those few. To be fair, the villain in this was really good, really smart and posh until the third act where he was uncharacteristic. This came the same year as John Wick 1 with both fighting two Russians, who ripped off who? Anyways good movie, good cinematography, very dark on screen as many Faqua films are of which I’m not a big fan of. And a good soundtrack too. Also I’m glad we got the poster shot in the movie.

❝Sometimes we make wrong choices to get to the right place.❞ • ───── ⋅☾✵☽⋅ ───── • A decent film with great performances from Denzel Washington and Marton Csokas and some excellent visuals; the pacing, however, was very slow and in my opinion the film is way too long. Overall though, not a bad watch.

It's got a lot of cool (and badass) things to like, but at the same time it's also got a lot of things to dislike. Pretty entertaining, not much under the surface but overall I had fun.

Without Denzel this movie is easily a full star lower. It’s overly long, and the action sequences while entertaining, are a bit same-y. Denzel elevates the whole thing though. The “solitary man with a code” type is an action movie staple, as is the “retired badass,” but Denzel manages to pull all of that off, and bring more depth to McCall than I’m sure exists on the page. David Harbour wishes he was in THE DEPARTED.
