Diary entries forStar Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
“You are my superior officer. You are also my friend. I have been, and always shall be yours.” Still in disbelief how perfectly crafted this film. Before I spoke about it’s pacing and narrative being superior to The Motion Picture and that is still true. However, I really appreciated the strong emotion center that is held at the center this time. Between Kirk and Spock, certainly. Their friendship is the stuff of legends, and rightfully so! But also, as villain enthusiast, I really appreciate the depthof Khan’s hatred. Unrestrained, illogical, self-destructive. It would be cartoonish if not for Ricardo Montalbán‘s acting prowess. One of the best films ever put to print.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
“He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him!” In stark contrast to the first film, THE WRATH OF KHANis not only better paced, but better realized—a superior film in every single way. Absolutely obsessed with how tense and methodical this one feels. Khan is a fun villain, Ricardo was over the top and I loved how he lavished in his villainy. There are a few movies I would love more than anything to go back in time and watch them in the theater, and this is one of them. It’s just fantastic.
