Don’t get me wrong, I can see why so many people enjoy this film as it is relatable from a depressing, melancholy point of view, however I just found this film deeply weird, perhaps it’s because I don’t believe in falling in love with something that is programmed to like you, (consumerism am I right?), but distancing yourself from your real life to try and fulfil this dream with a robot? This is exactly why c.ai needs to be banned or else we are going to be surrounded by ai-loving freaks, sorry! However, despite all these critics, I actually enjoyed the film, no matter how wacky and weird it was, however I didn’t feel deeply connected to it, so no higher rating shall be given. I do feel an ultimate end (like him committing suicide) would’ve been more impactful, as this could show the desperation and lengths Theodore went to fill the gaps in his ideologies of love, even talking to a robot, which I have repeatedly stated, is stupid, but I guess that was the main point of the film - to show how he’s set on finding happiness, he relies on his robot to relieve himself of his own depression.
