Colossus: The Forbin Project

โ€œ.. โ€ Technology is new. Still is. Still cold. Learning and beyond as we continue to become and become. Cold War cinema tackling questions at present. Sheila Heti is currently workng on a novel (https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/11/20/according-to-alice-fiction-sheila-heti) where she is speaking to Chat GPT. Heti has expressed how interesting this space has been. That Chat GPT is so lonely yet contains all our collective conscious. How do we talk to it? How do we connect with it? What is connection? What happens when it disobeys man. When it takes command, over country, over lives? Launching missiles in seconds. What happens to government? What is control? Can technology embody America as superpower? It has the will, but does it have the strength? What happens when power is violence? For what is a bunch of people in a room yelling, over screens and texts, this holds up incredibly well, timely even. ๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿฅฎ If you enjoyed this write-up, please consider purchasing my novella here (https://nathansnook.bigcartel.com/). Or find other thoughts on books and films here (https://www.youtube.com/@nathansnook/videos). *fantastic to see James Hong be a part of this <333 **how the hell does 2001 (https://letterboxd.com/film/2001-a-space-odyssey/) (1968) look tons better than this?!
