The Fall

that’s how a wailing heart speaks—jittering, nonsensical, with a heap of sorrow topped with hope.

The Fall

The Fall

Falling for it all over again on it's re-release. What a grand tour.* Stories and their tellings, the ol' back-and-forth what makes it all worthwhile. I think the only reason I even had the old dvd was because some video store was closing and that cover was all 👁👄👁 at me. Any gripe against Catinca Untaru get blasted into the sun, have they spent even five minutes with a child, she is the light of this film *note to self: need to check if an updated release of Baraka is available

The Fall

There's no happy ending on the stories. Sometimes i want a happy ending on the stories so give me a happy ending for this bandit stories Roy. This movie is so aesthetically beautiful, it feels like you met someone, and it warmed you with their fairytale stories, i also want to meet Roy to tell me a stories. Alexandria would love Letterboxd and log every movie that has Roy in it, please make them meet forever. Also thanks to @satria. for the recommend to this masterpiece movie!

The Fall

E conseguem.

The Fall

The Fall

❝What a mystery, this world; one day you love them and the next day you want to kill them a thousand times over.❞ ─── ・ 。 ─── The Fall is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, featuring one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen, and I absolutely loved it. From the very beginning I adored Alexandria; she was so cute, innocent yet shrewd, and so full of happiness despite the world attempting to bring her down. So when she met and spent more and more time with Roy she juxtaposition of their personalities also became more and more clear. With Roy, though, there was a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions. At first I was happy that Alexandria had someone to look out for her, but shen his motives became clear, I detested him a little, and then a lot after her accident. I didn't feel like he redeemed himself fully by the end, although I was glad he recovered and went back to work. I'll admit I'm a bit of a sucker for the found family trope, and the dynamic between Alexandria and Roy made me cry a lot. The story told by Roy was so captivating, and it was paired with gorgeous visuals. It was a lot of fun watching some of the scenes and recognising locations and buildings in India, and they worked really well with the grand scale and elegance of the story. I loved that Roy incorporated Alexandria's ideas and it became theirs instead of just his, but my heart broke when he killed off almost all the characters as she begged him not to. The plot was very interesting, and the camerawork and geometry of the shots reminded me a little of Wes Anderson. I really liked the soundtrack as well, as it gave the film a melancholy atmosphere despite the bright colours. Catinca Untaru was adorable and perfectly cast as Alexandria; she reminded me a lot of my sister and cousins when they were little, so it was a delight to watch her acting. In comparison, I couldn't focus at times because Lee Pace was otherworldly. Whoever decided to give him long, messy hair and eyeliner deserves a fat raise. Asides from that, his performance of Roy was done delicately while simultaneously being powerful. A lot of his acting was done through the eyes, which was subtle but so effective. Really, the entire cast was amazing, but Lee and Catinca completely stole the show (and my heart). I think I need to watch The Fall again because there's probably a lot of little details I missed out on, but all in all it was spectacular and truly one-of-a-kind.
